As security situation continues to degenerate in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, a university lecturer, Dr A.A Zemba with Moddibo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, Dr A. A. Zemba, has been robbed of his two jeeps.
Residents of Yola and environs said violent crimes had been on the increase despite the emergency rule and curfew imposed on the state.
Some residents of Sangere, the latest community that came under attack, said they cannot understand why crime seemed to be on the increase despite the emergency rule in the state.
“Before the emergency rule we are living in relative peace, but now we can’t sleep at night for fear of being attacked,” a resident, Sani Bello, said.
Residents of the community were woken up by gun shots at about 1:50 am yesterday when men of the underworld struck.
“The armed men about a dozen of them including a female ransacked houses collecting the car keys of their victims which they took away,” another resident said.
Many residents of Yola have now resorted to prayers as they said the latest surge of criminality seemed to defy the security apparatus despite the emergency rule in the state.
