Rohr charges Eagles to beat Cameroon for Ikeme

Coach Gernot Rohr has charged the Super Eagles to beat Cameroon in crunch World Cup qualifi ers in September as a befi tting tribute to goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who has been diagnosed of acute leukemia. Nigeria host the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on September 1 in Uyo with the return leg in Yaounde four days later. A top NFF offi cial has said Rohr is using Ikeme’s health problem to fi re up the Eagles against Cameroon. “Th e technical adviser is turning it (Ikeme’s illness) to advantage to motivate the other players,” NFF second vice-president Shehu Dikko told reporters. “He has been telling them to play and winthe matches for Carl. “Carl himself has been calling the players to win the game.” Nigeria are top of their qualifying group with six points from two matches, while African champions Cameroon have two points.
