Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has declared his readiness to assist the Nigeria’s U23 team at the Africa Cup of Nations AFCON final which serves as Japan 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers in Egypt next month.
Rohr who is presently in France sent words to the NFF that he will join the team on match days as it will not be too pleasant for Nigeria’s Men’s Football team to miss out of the Olympic Games after losing Olympic’s Women’s Football ticket.
“Imama will select the team, but qualification for Olympics is very important and some players could also be interesting for my team. But I will try to help Imama.
“I’m going to Egypt first to assist the U-23,” an inside source at the Nigeria Football Federation said.
Nigeria have been handed a tough preliminary group section along with West African rivals Cote d’Ivoire as well as Zambia and South Africa and the Olympic Eagles will start their campaign on 9th November at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo against Cote d’Ivoire to be followed with the games against Zambia on 12th November and South Africa on 15th November.
The Nigeria U23 contingent under the tutelage of Imama Amapakabo who had been in their camp in Abuja preparing for the 2019 U23 AFCON will leave for Cairo, Egypt today.
