The Rosicrucian Order (AMORC) has said Nigeria could become great if leaders would imbibe tolerance and altruism/selflessness as a lifestyle and take responsibility for actions and policies.

Grand Regional Administrator/ President, Rosicrucian Order Nigeria, Dr. Kenneth Idiodi, said this in Calabar at the 47th Eastern Regional Rotational Conclave which had the theme, ‘Practical Rosicrucian Tools for Nation Building.’

Dr. Idiodi said although all hope is not lost for Nigeria despite its current socio-economic and political upheavals, everyone, both leaders and citizens, should take full responsibility for his or her action with posterity in mind.

“If leaders take responsibility for their actions and imbibe tolerance, efficiency and altruism, which I called ‘TEA,’ the country will move in the right direction. We are all involved and we must take the blame together. If we take responsibility for our actions, we will make progress,” Idiodi stated.

Also speaking, Fr Anthony A. Okorie, in his keynote address, said “The stability or peace of any nation is predicated on the availability of the basic needs of living – security of life and property, food and shelter.

“According to Chinua Achebe “The trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership. The Nigerian problem is the unwillingness or inability of its leaders to rise to the responsibility, to the challenge of personal examples which are the hallmarks of true leadership.”
