Russia 2018: Ezenwa back in Enyimba training

Super Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has resumed training one week after suffering an ankle injury. Ezenwa who has four international caps for the Super Eagles is in contention to face Bidvest Wits in Wednesday’s second leg CAF Confederation Cup of their play-off tie at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, a club official revealed. The 29-year-old Ezenwa hurt his ankle while in action for Enyimba in their 1-1 draw against Kwara United in Ilorin in the Nigeria Professional Football League last week but resumed training on Monday according to a club official.
“He (Ezenwa) trained yesterday (Monday) and today ahead of the game but it remains to be seen if he will be picked by the coach. The coach will decide,” the official stated. Ghanaian goalkeeper Fatau Dauda was in goal for Enyimba in the first leg of CAF Confederation Cup playoffs in Johannesburg where they held Bidvest Wits to a 1-1 draw last week. Ezenwa is in contention for a place in Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles to Russia though he was left out of the team last two friendlies matches against Poland and Serbia while recovering from the injury.
