Sabo GRA president, wife, daughter laid to rest amidst tears, anguish

Thousands of mourners on Friday bid farewell as the late President General of the Tsaunin Kura GRA Residents Association (Sabo GRA), Comrade Dr. Silas Adamu, his wife and daughter were laid to rest at his Sabo GRA residence.

Adamu, who until his death was President of Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA) and Secretary General of the Medical Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), died on Monday March 8, 2021 from a fatal motor accident along Kaduna-Abuja Highway alongside his wife and daughter.

A statement signed by the Executive PRO, Sabo GRA, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, Sunday, said the burial procession began at the St. Gerard’s Catholic Hospital, where a long line of vehicles in convoy escorted the remains to ECWA English Service (EES) for a funeral service attended by thousands of mourners on March 19, 2021.

At the interment at his Sabo GRA residence, thousands of mourners were on ground, awaiting the arrival of the remains escorted by thousands of mourners from the church.
A combined team of security personnel, comprising the Police, Army, Civil Defence, Road Safety Corps, KASTLEA, KADVIS and Sabo GRA security had a hectic time, controlling the thousands of mourners.

Secretary General of Sabo GRA, Barrister Dan Paul, in his tribute at the church said late Comrade Silas Adamu was a trailblazer.
“President General (PG) has been many things to us. He was a trailblazer, a stabilizer, a motivator, a counselor, a peacemaker, a city builder, a philanthropist among many things. He was instrumental in unification of the four zones that make up the entire Tsaunin Kura Residents Association.
“The security architecture of the GRA was part of his administrative prowess, as he massively contributed financially to the fabrication and installations of the three existing gates in Zone D and many more to come. Comrade Dr Silas Gadani Adamu brought our community to limelight. He ensured that most of the challenges facing us as a community were brought to the doorsteps of the governor of Kaduna state.

“I heard the PG loud and clear when he said that even if he has to clean the shoes of the governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, he will do it to get the government to fix asphalt on all the roads in Tsuanin Kura. We thank God because in the next few months, contractors will be mobilised and our roads will be tarred. I’m sad because he will not be here physically to see the efforts he has made.

“Our PG will always be remembered as a man who naturally loves people, a generous man who gives to fault. He has on many occasions emptied his wallet and account just to help people who needed his assistance,” he said.
According to the Secretary, if the community had 10 of his kind, the infrastructure they desperately desire in Kaduna South will be a thing of the past.

“He was a great unionist. We are sad and are still grieving but we thank God for his life. Adieu our PG. You will be fondly remembered. We call on our government to immortalise him. As you return to your respective destinations after the internment, enjoy God’s grace and protection,” he prayed.
