Sack ENTRACO boss now, Imo indigenes tell Ihedioha

Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has been advised to relieve the general manager of the state Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO), Hon Alex Emeziem of his position to give way to a more committed gentleman who would face the  state’s sanitation problem squarely.

A resident at World Bank Housing Estate, Obiageli Anyanwu, lamented that refuse has taken over the town as if there were no agency responsible for the job and wondered if the workmen are paid what is due to them. She said residents do their best to clean up but  the refuse gathered from the exercise takes days before it is evacuated and called for sack of the GM.

Another resident, Okara Okpalaeke, noted that the people were being allowed to throw refuse and used materials out of moving  vehicles and litter the streets with all kinds of unwholesome articles while walking and made it clear that if nothing is done by the governor, tax payers’ money would be wasted continually.

“For four months now, huge sums of money have been brought out to evacuate refuse and keep the environment clean but it does appear as if nothing is happening,” he said.

The immediate past governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha was the first to raise the alarm when some weeks ago he condemned the huge sums of money being brought out by Governor Emeka Ihedioha on monthly basis, in excess of what he used for the exercise monthly, yet the situation has refused to change.

Our correspondent gathered over the weekend that Governor Ihedioha himself was not happy with the situation and reportedly warned Emeziem to take his job seriously or be booted out. It was also gathered that no funds were released for the October sanitation exercise which took place last Saturday which made the GM to declare a low profile exercise, concentrating on evacuating refuse at designated dump sites only.
