The chairman of Skyway Aviation Handling Ltd (SAHCOL), Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, has said that the company would commission its ultra-modern cargo warehouse located at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos in the second quarter of the year.
Speaking at the end of a four-day retreat for the company’s management staff held in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State Afolabi said the facility would exceed customers’ expectation.
“As service providers, customers are the only reason we are in business today, and for us to remain in business tomorrow, our collective efforts must be directed at delivering quality service that will exceed their expectations. Customers’ satisfaction is the guarantee that the company will earn revenue which will translate into salaries for staff and profits for shareholders. Hence, we must place premium on having them satisfied beyond bounds.
“The ultra-modern cargo warehouse which will become operational in the second quarter of 2014 is state-of-the-art and the first of its kind in West Africa. The warehouse will be equipped with modern infrastructure; it been designed to eliminate unprofessional cargo handling practices that are peculiar to the Nigeria environment. The warehouse is borne out of our commitment to change all aspects of ground handling and we will not despair,” he said.
He also said that in the last four years billions of naira had been invested in the procurement of critical ground handling equipment adding that “plans are on to take delivery of more modern equipment in the months ahead.”
Besides, Afolabi, who expressed appreciation to the staff for their efforts in 2013 and in the past years since the takeover of SAHCOL by Sifax Group, noted that through collective efforts of all the company’s employees, it “has lived to take steady steps in the direction of its vision.”
He pointed out that the ground handling firm “is nowhere near its destination” but stressed that he “is convinced that by the commitment, loyalty and dedication of staff to duty, SAHCOL will get there.”
He recalled that, when Sifax Group bought into SAHCOL in 2009 the objectives were to “reverse the trend of decline and build a company that can effectively compete in ground handling, not just in Nigeria but globally and also to provide a platform through which employee would develop expertise and achieve their various ambitions.
