Sallah: Buni targets 12,000 Almajiaris for welfare packages

Yobe state governor Mai Mala Buni has revealed plans to support 12,000 Almajiris across 240 Tsangaya schools in the state.

This was disclosed on Tuesday in Damaturu by the Executive Secretary Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) Dr Mohammed Goje who noted that Buni Almajiri system is a multi-dimensional and multi’sectoral approach with short, and long term plans.

“SEMA as directed by Governor Buni is keying inyo the social services component by providing Sallah welfare package to selected Almajiri schools.

“Every Almajiri in the selected location will celebrate Sallah with dignity, eat in school without going out to beg, have new sets of clothes among other needs,” SEMA Boss said.

The pilot scheme is targeting 240 schools in six local government areas.

This is not the first time Governor Buni is supporting vulnerable groups in the state.
