Sallah celebration: Lawmaker salutes troops for maintaining peace

The Chairman Senate Committee on Air Force, Sen. Duro Faseyi, has said that the bravery and commitment of troops of the Nigerian Air Force greatly contributed to the relative peace being enjoyed by people of North East.
The Senator said this in Maiduguri when he accompanied the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar to celebrate Eid-el Fitr with personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) serving in the frontlines.
He said Nigerians “truly” appreciate the daily sacrifices troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria of keeping the country united and safe for every citizen.
He, however, urged them to remain committed in the interest of the nation.
While inaugurating a newly built multipurpose hall at NAF 105 Composite Group, Maiduguri, Faseyi said the construction of the hall for use by the frontline troops was another significant achievement by NAF.
He said the Senate Committee on Air Force had witnessed several projects emnbarked on by NAF leadership across NAF units, which were geared towards enhancing operational effectiveness and the morale of personnel.
In his remarks, the Chief of Air Staff said he had come to celebrate Sallah with the troops as an “appreciation of their efforts towards ensuring that Nigerians are secured and are able to pursue their legitimate aspirations without any hindrance.” The CAS said NAF had made a lot of gains in the area of professionalism, adding NAF had undergone expansion for “enhanced operational effectiveness, administrative efficiency and better service delivery.” He said several Special Forces personnel had been trained and already deployed to newly established NAF units across the country.
The air chief said the service had “largely” addressed the welfare needs of personnel, especially through the provision of residential accommodation and distribution of uniforms, adding that the Federal Government had always supported NAF’s efforts toward enhancing its capability through acquisition of new platforms and reactivation of grounded ones.
The new inaugurated hall, which was named after late Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Edem, a onetime Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command.
