Sallah: Police, NSCDC assure safety, impose curfew in Yobe

Yobe state Police command has assured residents of safety at the Eid-El-kabir celebration with a promise that necessary
security measures have been put in place at all eid grounds.

The Police Commissioner, Sumounu Abdulmaliki, gave the assurance, Friday in Damaturu after show-of-force in collaboration with other sister agencies.

“We are working in synergy with other security agencies to make sure the sallah is a hitch-free one.  All eid grounds will be secured by our officers, therefore citizens should freely to celebrate their sallah and report any suspicious movement.

“As proactive measure, we have placed restriction on vehicular movement on Saturday 11pm to Sunday 12noon,” he said.

In a separate interview, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) in the state, Ayinla Olowo, said they have dispatched their intelligent personnel to prone areas of Geidam, Yunusari, Gujba and Gulani.

“Whenever there is festivity of this kind, we get prepare because in the Northeast we have peculiar problem, the insurgents are still much
around, we are up to the task, people should not panic,” he said.

The Commandant further warned tricycle riders to desist from reckless driving during sallah as his men would arrest all perpetrators found wanting.
