Save Kano from explosion, group urges emir

Chairman Arewa Social Media Contract, a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) has called on the emir of Kano Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi 11 to quickly intervene  in the ongoing political dead-lock in Kano in order to save the ancient city of Kano from unimaginable explosion.

Speaking exclusively to the Blueprint in Kano on Thursday, Darma said the monarch intervention has become necessary in view of the cosmopolitan nature of Kano which is currently accommodating people of diverse ethnic and religious affiliations adding that announcing the true winner in the just concluded election was the only way out of the impasse.

According to him, “the people of Kano in particular and Nigeria in general were fully convinced that election had been conducted on the basis of fairness and credibility. Announcing a wrong winner, would be a recipe for anarchy and conflagration.”

H said the essence of signing the recent peace accord between parties that had contested the gubernatorial election was meant to foster the spirit of peace, harmony and tranquility positing that any breach of peace as a result of the failure to announce a genuine winner, would have a band wagon effect on the northern part of the country.

He called on the monarch to as a matter of fatherly responsibility act in good time to save the situation stressing however that the relative peace enjoyed in Kano could only be sustained with the election result announced without prejudice.
