Save the Children inaugurates media working group in Borno

Save the Children International (SCI) Tuesday inaugurated the Borno state media working group in Maiduguri.

Inaugurating the group, the Advocacy Campaigns Coordinator, Mr. Joseph Apeh, said the objective of the group was to strengthen the existing cordial working relationship with the media in the state.

He stated further that other purposes include establishing a culture of working with the media and recognition of the role of the media in society, particularly in child education while maintaining a formidable partnership on domestication of the Child Rights Act, budget on education and community participation in school governance.

Joseph added that it also strengthens children on parliament for effective participation in the state and safe school declaration implementation as well as School Based Management Committee (SBMC).

Information international communication specialist and media consultant, Mr. Kunle Olawoyi, said the idea of the creation of media working group emanated as a result of the role the media plays in society, particularly information dissemination.
