Schoolboy ‘threatened to stab girl who refused to sext him’

A school was placed on lockdown after a 15-year-old boy allegedly threatened to stab a girl who refused to send him sexually explicit photos of herself on Snapchat.
Rhyl High School pupils were not allowed to leave their classrooms in Grange Road, North Wales, for around 45 minutes as teachers feared they were in danger.
The suspect had allegedly threatened the girl the night before and then issued a further threat to a different male pupil on Friday when the school was closing.
Frightened parents were left waiting outside the gates at around 2.55pm.
‘A boy messaged my daughter on Thursday night via Snapchat asking her to send him dirty pictures,’ the mother of the girl involved said.
‘When she refused, he said if she didn’t send him one, he would come and stab her.’
‘On Friday morning, she went to meet her friends to walk to school, then she got a phone call from one of her friends saying the boy was following them.
‘When they all met up, he was riding up and down on his bike shouting verbal abuse at them.
‘A passing parent asked if they were OK and they said yes and carried on to school and went and told a teacher.’
The mother was asked to come and pick up her daughter and they were both then told to go the police station to be interviewed.
She later found out the school had been locked down because the same boy had allegedly rang another male pupil and threatened to stab them after school as well.
Police arrested a 15-year-old boy in Llandudno and confirmed the ‘isolated incident involved threats towards a pupil’.
Rhyl High School headteacher Clare Armitstead added: ‘We will be writing to parents to thank them for their genuine support during the incident on Friday and for working with us to keep our children safe.
‘We worked as quickly as possible, in partnership with the police, to bring this matter to a safe conclusion and to allow the 1,200 children, staff and parents to leave our school safely.
At no point were any of our pupils or staff in danger because we had in place the policies that allowed us to make the right decisions when the situation arose.
‘Our policies and procedures worked really well and the police congratulated us on their execution.’
A North Wales Police spokeswoman said: ‘The 15-year-old has been released under investigation and additional patrols will be carried out around the school.’
