SDP standard bearer, APC NASS candidates missing in INEC final lists

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday released the final list of candidates contesting for positions of President, Senate and the House of Representatives elections.

None of the claimants to presidential ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), neither former Governor Cross River State, Donald Duke nor the former Minister of Information, Prof Jerry Gana made the list.

However, while the presidential candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) President Mohammadu Buhari and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart , Atiku Abubakar were enlisted by INEC.

Other names that did not make the list were the names of Rivers and Zamfara states contestants for  Senate and House of Reps.

In Rivers the names of the APC candidates were supposed to come after the ADC but it was immediately followed by the APDA candidates, showing clearly that the APC candidates have been omitted in the contests for Senate and House of Representatives.

Similarly, in Zamfara, the name of the party AGAP was followed by APDA indicating that APC was conspicuously missing in the list.

The same is the case in the House of Representatives contest for both states where the party, APC also could not make the list.

It could be recalled that both Duke won the presidential primaries of the SDP but Gana had challenged his victory on the condition of zoning in the party.

Gana had won at the Federal High Court in Abuja as the presidential candidate of the party but Duke had challenged the judgement at the Appellate Court.

In the case of Zamfara, the state APC was  accused by INEC not to have organised its primaries.
