Secession will cause hunger, suffering – Oluwo

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbduRasheed Adewale Akanbi, Wednesday said the call for secession will not bring any development except hunger and suffering.

He stated that some of the agitators are using it to accrue wealth from international community as he warned youth against being used to cause chaos in the country.

Oluwo spoke at the launching of Osun Youth Policy Document held at Aurora event centre, Osogbo.

The monarch said, “Civil servants, kings and many more supporters of the Yoruba nation do not know that the call for secession will cause hunger and suffering in the land.

“Those calling for Yoruba nation are threatening the livelihood of civil servants. Unfortunately, kings are supporting the course. Traditional rulers and elders should counsel and guide the youth. Hunger is looming in the land. Many of these agitators are using it to accrue wealth. Since the time of IPOB, have they achieved the dream?,” Oluwo asked.

He commended the youth for speaking up against bad governance, warning that “this is not the time to fight and cause violence.”

The state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, in his speech, reiterated his commitment towards youth development.

He noted that his administration has further demonstrated his commitment to developing the youth by developing a Youth Policy christened the 4 Es: Youth Empowerment, Youth Engagement, Youth Entrepreneurship and Youth Education.
