Security personnel repel kidnappers on Kaduna -Abuja highway

Security operatives comprising military and police successfully repelled armed bandits who opened fire on motorists plying the Kaduna-Abuja Highway on Friday afternoon near Olam Feeds Company.

The Kaduna state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed this to newsmen Friday evening, said those injured were first treated at Olam Feeds Clinic before they were referred to a specialist hospital for comprehensive medical attention.

He said security forces, both on ground and air, are presently pursuing remnants of the armed bandits in the adjoining forest.

Aruwan said Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state had been briefed on the development, adding that the governor praised the security personnel for their uncommon courage and bravery in repelling the armed bandits.

Governor El-Rufai, who wished the injured personnel and motorists speedy recovery, also praised medical personnel at the Olam Clinic for stabilising the injured.

He said the state government “will continue to partner with security agencies in the battle against bandits and criminals,” adding that the security agencies “will give a comprehensive briefing after the clearance operation in the general area.”
