Security: Vigilante group set for nationwide sensitisation, road march

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) will this week, embark on a nationwide road march and sensitization on issues bordering on security across all the states of the federation and the federal capital territory (FCT).

In a statement issued on Monday by the Commander General of the group, Navy Captain Umar Bakori (Rtd), the march was to show their total commitment to securing all communities in the country.

According to Bakori, the group was ready to work with all the security agencies in the country to combat all forms of crime and criminality.

The CG further said in the statement that peace and stability were panacea for the country’s growth and development.

The statements partly read; “I wish to use this medium to invite all peace loving Nigerians to join VGN in this road march as we are all partners in ensuring peace in our great country.”

The VGN it will be recalled was involved in the fight against insurgents in the North East under the auspices of the civilian joint task force (CJTF).

The group, trained by the Nigerian Police in community policing techniques, has members in all 774 local governments areas in Nigeria.
