Ahead the 2015 general elections in Akwa Ibom, a senator representing Eket Senatorial District and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the state, Helen Esuene, has picked the governorship nomination form of her party, even as she promised to run an inclusive government if elected.

The aspirant, who had consulted across the state and outside, was also in the mix of thousand of Akwa Ibom indigenes in Abuja on Sunday, to explain why she is running to succeed the incumbent governor of the state.
Senator Helen told the gathering the she had acquired enough experience to govern the state, saying that, “I have gained a lot of experience and the issue of governance is a very serious business, it is not flamboyant, it is sitting down and planning, brainstorming and articulating what you need to do, and it does not have anything to do with gender at all.”

Speaking on some of her contributions in the past, she said, “I want to say that I have what it takes and I know what governance is all about, I know the issues in Akwa Ibom state, I am widely accepted across board in Akwa Ibom state, why do they accept me because who I am. When I started my public life and in whatever I do I always think of affecting lives.

“I have a Scholarship scheme I have given to people since 1997, I didn’t give Scholarship because I got wealth overflowing but I thought I should give back something to the community and that was why I started that foundation and if you come to my companies it has people across board, it not just Eket people, in fact the pioneer directors in the hotel employed in the year 2002 when I commissioned the hotel, a few of them are not from my side, including my accounting manager and he is still there till today, even some Corps members, once you performed so well after the service year I have to allow them to stay.”
