Senate receives Buhari’s requests for confirmation of Nami, Adamu as FIRS, AMCON Chairmen

The Senate Tuesday received two separate  letters of requests  from President Muhamnadu Buhari for confirmation of appointments of Mohammed Mamman Nami as the new Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Edward Adamu as Chairman of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).


President Buhari in the letters dated December 9, 2019, and read in plenary by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan also sought for confirmations of appointments of 13 nominees into membership of Board of governance of FIRS. The thirteen nominees for membership of the FIRS board as listed in the letter are James Yakwen Ayuba ( North Central), Ado Danjuma (North West), Adam Baba Mohammed (North East ), Adewale Ogunyomade (South West), Ikeme Osakwe (South East) and Ehile Adetola Aibangbee (South-South).


Others are Ladidi Bara’atu Mohammed as representative from the office of the Attorney General of Federation and Minister of Justice in the board , Godwin Emefiele as representative of Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) and Fatima Hayatu as representative of the Ministry of Finance.


Others are Maagbe Adaa as representative from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFAC) on the board, Umar Ajiya as representative from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ( NNPC), DCG T.M Isah as representative from the Nigerian Customs Service ( NCS) and the Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission ( CAC).
President Buhari in both letters of requests, sought for expeditious consideration and confirmation of appointments of the nominees .
