Senate’s 14-day ultimatum

The horrendous massacres in Benue State should make the heart palpate. That such intermittent killings have almost become indices of identifying Benue State and some parts of Nigeria, go beyond the ordinary in terms of implications on human and material resources.
That the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly is very much disturbed is much understood. However, it would appear that the 14 days’ ultimatum given the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to arrest the killers, is a merely ceremonial approach. Could it be that the numerical strength of the slain victims this time round catches the fancy of the Senate more than the similar massive killings of the past? Or, how the police handled the previous wanton destruction of lives satisfied the Red Chamber?
