Senator Ohuabunwa’s wife for burial Sept. 1 in Arochukwu 

 

The remains of late Lady Nimi Faith Ohuabunwa, wife of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa will be interred on Friday September 1, 2023 at her compound in Arochukwu, Arochukwu local government area of Abia state.

According to a funeral programme by the patriarch of the Ohuabunwa dynasty, Senator Ohuabunwa, the burial ceremony will be preceeded by a funeral service same day, at the All Saints Anglican Cathedral, Ugwuavo, Arochukwu.

“Condolence visits commence after internment and will run through Saturday, 2nd September, while thanksgiving mass in her honour holds on Sunday, September 3rd,” the family further said in a statement.

Senator Ohuabunwa, a former Leader of ECOWAS Parliament described his late wife as “a friend and pillar of support over the years.”

The week-long line up of event begun with a Night of Tribute which held on Tuesday, August 29 at the St. Mathew’s Anglican Church, Gwarimpa, Abuja.

On Thursday, her remains left Abuja for her compound in for Abia state, for her final journey home, where a Service of Songs held at Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa’s Residence, Barracks road, Arochuckwu.

Among those who graced a night of tribute organised in her honour include FCT Minister and former Governor of River State Nyesom Wike, former Governor of Abia state Senator T.A Orji, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, serving Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and former Labour Minister, Emeka Nwogu.

Also in attendance was Senator Philip Aduda, Labour Party governorship candidate for Enugu state Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, Senator Nkechi Nwogu among others.

Late Ohuabunwa, a lawyer, died in Abuja after a protracted ailment on July 22, 2023.
