Senatorial candidates endorses Bello/Onoja, Adeyemi

The coalition of Kogi West senatorial candidates for the election have stepped down their contest and endorsed Governor Yahaya Bello, his running mate, Chief Edward David Onoja, and Senator Smart Adeyemi for the governorship and senatorial elections scheduled to hold on Saturday 16th November 2019.

At a joint press conference held in Lokoja, Tuesday, the candidates said their decision to step down was  informed by current political exigencies, demands of their party structure and the need to alter a one direction political reality of Kogi state since 1992 which has always produced successive Governors of the state from one ethnic group.
The senatorial candidates describes the act as inequitable, unjust, unfair and demanding the concerns of all thus the need to bury their aspirations.

The candidates were represented at the press conference by Olabode Adeyemi of African Democratic Congress, Princess Roseline Ibitoye of Accord Party, Chief Samuel Atteh of the PPA, Olasunkanmi Aina Olayinka of the CAP, others are Noah John Abiodun of PPN, Olasunkanmi Aina of PT, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the candidates,  Adeyemi Olabode John said  they have weighed the factors that will inform voting on the 16th of November, the intricacies, previous political realities, ethnic considerations and other Germaine issues and took a decision they consider will be best for the state.

According to him “As important stakeholders to the November 16th Gubernatorial election and Senatorial election, we have reviewed the obvious realities, appraised the political journey of the past and have resolved collectively, to defer our ambitions till future election year and support the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the  election

“By this decision we have instructed our agents in all the polling units, canvasers and cordinators across board to campaign, work, mobilize and vote for all the APC Candidates for the November 16th election”

Earlier, the candidates had met with the governor, who was represented by his running mate, Chief Edward David Onoja, Speaker Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Prince Mathew Kolawola, Director General Smart Adeyemi Campaign, Hon Fancy Jimoh, and several others.

The elated Deputy Governor, Chief Onoja, described the endorsement as a reflection of the thinking of the new direction government of Governor Yahaya Bello, saying  the re-election of Governor Yahaya Bello is the best way to unite Kogi people against divisive tendency that have held the state down.
