The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial district at the National Assembly under Peoples Democratic Party (NASS), Barr Peter Nwaoboshi, has defeated All Progressives Congress candidate, Mrs. Doris Uboh in the just concluded presidential/National Assembly elections.
Barr. Nwaoboshi, defeated his rival , Mrs. Uboh, with a large margin to return to the National Assembly for the second time.
The Returning Officer for the Senatorial district, Provost, Federal College of Education (Technical) Asaba, Dr. Ignatius Ezueom declared Nwoboshi having pulled the highest number of vote the from the 9 local government councils that make up Delta north senatorial district .
The PDP candidate Nwoboshi pulled a total vote 186, 935 while the APC candidate, Mrs. Uboh scored 39, 350.
According to the returning Officer, ” I Dr. Ezueom hereby certified that Peter Nwaoboshi having certified the required number by law hereby declared the winner and return elected” .
However, the APC candidate, Mrs Doris Uboh has rejected the result and called for outright cancelation of the result of the nine local government.
She said across the 9 local government area, the total vote cast were far below the numbers of recorded and being announced by the returning officer for the district.
” The election of Feb. 23 2019 in Delta state was marred by manipulation and threat to my life, and my supporters across the 9 local government area, she said.
“In Ika south and Ukwuani local government, my party agents who refused to be compromised were kidnapped, brutalized and kicked out of moving vehicle. Massive thumb printing took place in Aniocha north and south, Ika north east and south, she alleged.
Meanwhile, the PDP candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili federal Constituency, Mr. Ndudi Elumelu, defeated his opponent, Mr Paul Adingwupu of APC landslide.
Mr Elumelu scored a total vote of 84, 234, while the APC candidate, Adingwupu, got 11, 104 against the total vote cast of 99, 549 in the just concluded elections.
Also, the Returning Officer for Aniocha/Oshimili federal Constituency, Dr. Mrs Josephine Emebiziogo disclosed that Elumelu of PDP pulled total of 84,214 to defeat Adingupu of APC with total vote of 11104.
