Senators pour encomiums on Oluwuyi at retirement 

Showers  of encomiums were poured on the retiring clerk of Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs ,  Mr Mustapha Oluwuyi,  by Senators , top management staff of the National Assembly and colleagues last week at sent forth session held for him.

Oluwuyi who is exiting public service this Saturday , December 31, 2022 as a Deputy Director upon attainment of 60 years of age ,  served as Clerk of Senate Committee on Information later renamed as Media and Public Affairs Committee  , under Senators Ayogu Eze in the 6th Senate , Enyinnaya Abaribe in the 7th Senate , Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi in the 8th Senate, Adedayo Adeyeye, Godiya Akwashiki and Ajibola Basiru in the present  9th Senate .

Leading the encomium pouring session was the Deputy Whip of the Senate , Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi ( APC Niger North ), who described  Oluwuyi as a consummate public servant with passion for excellence and service delivery.

“Name all the virtues or attributes expected from a public officer like honesty , dedication , loyalty , patriotism , diligence , comportment , service delivery etc, Oluwuyi brought them to bear as Clerk of Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs under my Chairmanship from October 2015 to June 2019 in the 8th Senate which going by various submissions made here , were his service marks over the years in different capacities,” he said.

He appreciated the retiring officer for the legacies being left behind on the template of service to humanity and thank God that he is retiring to enjoy the fruits of his labour.

In his own remarks, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs , Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru (APC Osun Central), urged other staff of the National Assembly to emulate the leadership qualities of retiring  Clerk of the Committee by ensuring diligence in their duty in other to earn reward of their hardship.

“Civil or public servants should work tirelessly for the growth and development of their various  organizations which will invariably translates into growth and development of their country.

“Mustapha Oluwuyi has done this over the years in the service of the National Assembly as Clerk of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs and meritoriously bowing out with sense of fulfilment,” he said.

In his speech, elated Oluwuyi who was flanked  by his wife , Mrs Taiwo Oluwuyi, thanked both the Political and Administrative leadership of the National Assembly for facilitating the conducive environment for his successful legislative service delivery over the years, urging his remaining colleagues on call of duty to work tirelessly for the growth and development of true democracy in the country.

“I am humbled by the encomium poured on me today by Distinguished Senators, top management staff of the National Assembly, colleagues and of course, members of the Senate Press Corps.

“The kind words will further make me to do more for our dear country even in retirement and I pray that God who gave me the Grace for this gracious and ceremonious exit from public service , will grant those still serving same,” he enthused.
