Joint Committees of the Senate on Defence, Army, Air Force and Navy has fixed Tuesday, February 23, 2021 for screening of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.
The Senate had penultimate week upon receipt of request from President Muhammadu Buhari, mandated its committees on Defence, Army, Navy and Airforce , to carry out the screening and report back in two weeks.
While the Senate assigned the committees to carry out the screening separately, the committees in an invitation sent to journalists, indicated that the screening will be jointly carried out, with the defence committee as the lead committee.
The invitation signed by the Clerk of Defence Committee, Mrs Vivian Njemanze, listed names of those to be screened as Major General Leo Irabor from Delta state as Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru from Kaduna State as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, from Kano State as Chief of Naval Staff and Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao, from Osun state, as Chief of Air Staff .
