S/Falcons begin 2014 AWC preparations

—Okon ready for Cameroon friendly

Nigeria’s Senior women team, the Super Falcons, have open camp in Abuja as they begin preparations for the 2014 Africa Women Championship (AWC) in Namibia.
Coach Edwin Okon called up 34 players for the camp/screening exercise as he said the screening will be elimination by substitution to get the required and needed players for the team.

Okon said he is happy to be playing Cameroon before the AWC qualifier against Rwanda as this will help him and his technical crew access players better.
“Nigeria has so many players and we have replacement for whoever is not measuring up to our standard. This is just the beginning of the camp and everything is okay.

“I like it that we are playing Cameroon because my disciples will be ever ready. We are just like Boy Scout or Girls Guide. We are ever ready. Though I heard that the Cameroonians have been in camp since December, but that is not a problem. We will try our best and use the match to screen players too” Okon stated.
Meanwhile, only 20 players participated in the team’s first and only training yesterday morning, as the rest of the players were expected this evening.
