Sharing cars, motorcycles not legislative functions – Rep Gaiya

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon Godfrey Ali Gaiya from Kaduna state, at the weekend hit back at his colleagues, saying sharing of cars, motorcycles and other essentials are not legislative functions of elected lawmakers.
Gaiya, who chairs House Committee on Sports, also replied critics that lawmakers are reluctant in taking up serious national assignments.
Addressing newsmen in Manchok, Kauru local government area of the state, Gaiya said, “Sharing of cars, motorcycles and other essentials are absolutely not part of legislative functions as defined by the 1999 constitution. But unfortunately we are living with those who are less opportune like me and others in the society.”
He further said that it is wrong for such gesture to be counted as achievements.
