Stakeholders in Katsina state on Monday held a seminar on peace and security ahead of forthcoming 2015 election.
The seminar organised by state government drawn participants from Islam and Christian faith, traditional and community leaders, INEC officials, security agents and civil society.
Others include members of community leaders, political parties leaders and Da’awah group.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema, said the seminar was organised to enlighten the public on the need to ensure peaceful conduct of 2015 election.
Shema, particularly, called on religious leaders to guard their utterances capable of inciting violence before, during and after elections.
He warned politicians to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and avoid any act that will lead to chaos and confusion.
“I appealed to our politicians not to consider election as do or die affairs, we should all play the game according to the rule”.
Shema called on the participants of the seminar to made good use of what they learnt and carry the message to other people for the overall interest of the state.
Earlier, special adviser on community development, Yusuf Abubakar Bindawa said the state government appreciated the cordial relationship among Muslim and Christian followers and hope that the relationship will continue to work stronger.
Bindawa recalled that government in recognition of Christians role for the development of the state has offer various assistance to them.
In his remark, Reverent Gideon Biya who spoke on behalf of CAN, said religion of Christian is for peace and appealed for both Christain and Muslim to Champion peace in all their dealing.
