Shema deserves another chieftaincy title – Group

Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina state should be given the traditional title of  Sarkin Aikin Katsina “because of the  laudable projects  he has been executing since assuming office in 2007.”
A Katsina-based group, Pauwa Youth Association, in a statement yesterday, said Katsina state had not witnessed the present level of development since it was created in 1987.
The association, which  appealed to the governor to construct the road from Safana to Danmusa, up to Maidabino to ‘Yartsamiyar Jino, leading up to Kankara, said building the road would further consolidate Shema’s achievements.
Listing Shema’s achievements, the group said the governor had built many roads in the state and established over 130 new secondary schools, adding that “many other schools have been expanded, rehabilitated and upgraded.”
It also said all university students of Katsina state origin were on scholarship, adding that more than 200 students had been sent to six universities in Sudan to study Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Arabic Calligraphy in Arabic Language.
The group further appealed for the construction of Gangaren Makurdi to Jargaba in Bakori local government area “which has been neglected by successive administrations.”
