Sheriff ‘plots’ APC return, meets Osinbajo, Oyegun

Sheriff plots APC return, meets Osinbajo, Oyegun Th ere are indications that the sacked national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff may be on his way back to the All Progressives Congress. Sheriff , it would be recalled dumped the party following some disagreements with some chieftains ahead of the 2015 polls, and later became the national chairman of the opposition People Democratic Party under questionable circumstances. He was later sacked by the Supreme Court after a heated battle with the Senator Ahmed Mohammmed Makarfi -led Caretaker Committee which later got the apex court’s nod as the legitimate leadership of the party.

But in what appears a gradual return to the APC fold, Sheriff was sighted at the Presidential Villa yesterday where he had come for a parley with Vice President Osinbajo. Although, no reason was given for the visit as the time of this report, the arrival of the APC national chairman, John OdigieOyegun who arrived at about 4.45pm, fuelled speculation that the meeting might not be unconnected with ‘Sheriff ’s planned return to APC’ Th e visit of the former governor is coming barely 24 hours after a group within the Borno state chapter said they did not want him in their fold. While he held sway in the PDP, the former lawmaker was believed to be an agent of the governing APC, a rumour he consistently denied.
