A faction in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Imo state chapter loyal to factional chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, yesterday took absolute control of the party secretariat until 7PM.

The group, backed by party strongman, Chief Hope Uzodinma, has as its chairman, secretary and publicity secretary, Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie, Sir George Egu and Chief Enyinna Onuegbu, respectively, and other members numbering more than 2, 000.
While the other PDP faction led by former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, Chief  Emeka Ihedioha, and former Governor, Chief Achike Udenwa, was having their State Congress at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Centre, the group’s members sat comfortably in their seats inside and outside the party office with a combined team of military and police officers standing by to provide security.

Also, a banner strategically placed on the wall of the party building had the picture of Ali Modu Sherif with the inscription: “Support Our National Chairman.”
Publicity secretary of the group, Chief Enyinna Onuegbu, had earlier told our correspondent that there was no need for another congress as they did their own last May and that their tenure would last till 2018.
