Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state was yesterday at the State House in Abuja in company of top government officials over the controversial living condition of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in camps across the state.

An international humanitarian organisation, Doctors Without Borders- (Médecins Sans Frontières) had in a statement, last week, raised alarm over the deplorable condition of about 24,000 IDPs in government camps, saying that at least 30 of them, mostly children, die every day.
President Muhamnadu Buhari was said to be angry over the damning report, especially in view of funds being channeled by government at all levels, donor agencies and philanthropists to cater for the IDPs.
Shettima met with the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari, and declined to talk to State House correspondents after the meeting, saying “this was a private visit.”
It would be recalled that the governor had also accused some non-governmental organisations of collecting funds from international agencies in the name of helping the IDPs.
