Shinkafi foundation empowers 2,300 IDP Zamfara women

A nongovernmental organization based in Zamfara state, Umaru-Shinkafi Foundation has donated cash and relief materials to 2,300 women Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Tsunami IDP camp in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital.
Blueprint gathered that the IDPs camp in Tsunami area of Gusau LGA consists mainly of women and children rendered homeless which forced them to leave their respective ancestral villages across the state as a result of the lingering security challenges.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau  by the media aide to the executive secretary, Solid Minerals Development Fund, Malam Bashir Kabir Ahmad on Sunday said the relief materials distributed to the IDPs comprised food items, clothes and other essential goods.
Speaking at the distribution exercise, an official of the foundation, Shinkafi said the gesture is aimed at promoting the wellbeing of the IDPs.
“The gesture is aimed at complementing government at all levels in taking care the IDPs and one of the activities of the foundation is humanitarian services to various categories of vulnerable groups,” she said.
She urged the IDPs to consider their condition as a test from the Almighty Allah.
