Shinkafi to Buni: Remove Yari, Marafa as APC members over breach of trust

A former national secretary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has called on the Yobe state governor Mai Buni-led national caretaker committee of the APC to take a decisive action against former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa over their alleged plans to “disrupt the peace and progress of the APC, anti-party activities in Zamfara and disrespect to national leadership of the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari.”

He made the call at a press conference in Gusau Friday over a pronouncement allegedly made by former Governor Yari and Senator Marafa at the end of a meeting with the Kaduna state governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufa’I, in Kaduna on Wednesday over Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle’s defection to the APC.

Shinkafi explained that that Article 21 of the APC 2014, as amended, says, “The power shall be exercised on behalf of the party by the respective executive committee of the party at all levels to discipline party members who clearly violates Article 21 (a), (iii) and (iv) of the Constitution of All Progressives Congress, 2014, as amended.”

“Specifically, Article 21 (a) prescribes that, “Offences against the Party shall include the following: i. A breach of any provision of this Constitution. ii. Anti-Party activities or any conduct, which is likely to embarrass or have adverse effect on the party or bring the party into hatred, contempt, ridicule or disrepute Iii – disobedience or negligence in carrying out lawful directives of the Party which both former Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar and Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa did.

He appealed to the national caretaker committee chairman to, as a matter of urgency, expel them from the party to avoid a repeat of what happened in the 2019 elections in Zamfara APC.
