Shun politics of hatred, Rep counsels Adamawa PDP

A member of the House of Representatives from Adamawa state, Hajia Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), has appealed to members of the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to bury their differences and re-unite ahead of the 2015 polls.

The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Constituency Outreach, similarly asked party chieftains and members to avoid politics of hatred while also cautioning them against attack on other political parties.
She gave the charge during a visit to the PDP chairman in the state, Chief Joel Madaki, during which she announced that she had no plan to dump the PDP for any other party.

Hajia Ahmed, in a statement in Abuja, said although Governor Murtala Nyako belonged to the All Progressives Congress (APC), PDP members should give him the desired respect and avoid bitter partisan politics which could disrupt the peace of the state.
She said: “I have come here to plead with our members to remain united and work for the progress of PDP in the general elections in 2015.
“I want to appeal to the former members of the State Executive Committee to team up with the new leaders to move the party forward.

“Although the former SEC leaders have been supplanted by the new team, let us forgive and forget the past. This is the time to heal wounds.
“I urge the new Executives to be large hearted in accommodating past members of the SEC. And if there is any vacancy, please try to integrate past leaders.

“I hope that as from today, we would turn a new leaf and put the PDP in good shape for the coming poll.”
On her rumoured plan to dump the party, she clarified: “I have no intention of defecting because this party made me what I am today. I also hold the party total loyalty.
“It is a great opportunity to be the first elected female member of the House of Representatives from this state, I owe the PDP a lot and I will continue to do my best to uplift the party.”
