Sign National Health Bill into law, physicians urge Jonathan

Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria (APHPN) has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to expedite action in signing into law the National Health Bill, recently passed by the Senate, in the overall interest of the masses.

The association made the appeal in a statement jointly signed by its National Chairman, Professor Tanimola Akande and Secretary- General, Dr. Sunday Aderibigbe, and made available to journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, over the weekend.
It also appealed to state governments yet to sign into law a bill banning smoking in public places to do so without further delay.

While commending the Senate for passing the National Health Bill, the Public Health Physicians said such step would help reverse the poor health indices of the country.

They also applauded the Lagos State Government and the Federal Capital Territory Administration for legislating against smoking in public places.
