Simon, Abdullahi miss Super Eagles training Session

Gent of Belgium forward Moses Simon and Bursaspor of Turkey ace Shehu Abdullahi didn’t take part in Super Eagles full training session yesterday. The duo was carrying knocks picked up in action for their respective club before arriving the camp of the Super Eagles ahead of the training game against Congo DR in Port Hacourt. They however had a session with the team physiotherapist while the rest of their teammates engaged each other in a training game which ended 1-1 with Simy Nwankwo and Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the goals. Wilfred Ndidi was the other Super Eagles Player who did not take part in full training once again as he is still recuperating from the injury he sustained while in action for Leicester City. While Ndidi has been ruled out of the game, Simon and Abdullahi are in with a chance of facing Congo DR as it appears they are nursing minor knocks, and they could take part in tomorrow’s session. However, the yesterday morning training included included the usual warm-up drills before an intense two-aside game.

One team had strikers Jude Ighalo, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa as well as Uche Agbo. On the side FC Crotone striker Simeon Nwankwo netted a good goal against goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa. Ighalo worked hard as always, Ahmed Musa showed his blistering speed, while Oghenekaro Etebo has to be a lot more decisive when going forward from midfi eld. The Leicester City star is running well now and it is now just a matter of time before he joins the rest of the squad in full training. Competition among the four goalkeepers – Ezenwa, Francis Uzoho, Dele Ajiboye and Daniel Akpeyi – was fi erce as one of them will be dropped for the Mundial. In the meantime, John Ogu is the latest call-up to join the camp. It now means that only skipper Mikel Obi and Victor Moses are being expected.
