Sit-at-home: Gunmen invade Owerri, kill popular actor’s brother, Policeman, attack Imo commissioner

Gunmen believed to be enforcing a five-day sit-at-home order in the Southeast geo-political zone earlier ordered by self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ikpa, Friday afternoon killed the brother of Nollywood actor Osita Iheme known as Prince Iheme.

The hoodlums also shot a policeman, matchetted the Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Martin Eke, and shot sporadically to cause pandemonium on the outskirts of Owerri the state capital and Mbaitoli local government area and it’s environs.

It was also learnt that the gunmen shot at the convoy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, Akarachi Amadi, on sighting his campaign train the same day.

The incident according to eyewitness forced markets and shops to close, while passerby scampered for safety.

An eyewitness told Blueprint correspondent that the gunmen were clad in an all black outfit and operated in three vehicles, shouting “go home, go home, today is Sit-at-home”.

However, as at the time of filing this report, the Imo Police Command’s spokesman, CSP Mike Abattam, was yet to confirm the incident.
