Six female Nigerian footballers kidnapped in Delta/Edo boundary, abductors demand N5m each

Six female Nigerian grassroots footballers have been kidnapped at Oronigbe community in Edo state, a boundary between Delta and Edo states.

It was gathered that the female footballers were kidnapped around 6pm on Friday while returning from a football competition at Owa-Alero in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta state.

Husband to one of the kidnapped victims said contact had been established with family members as kidnappers demanded N5 million as ramsom for each of them.

According to him, “they went to Owa-Alero to play football match. So, on their way back, they were kidnapped at Oronigbe area, the boundary between Delta and Edo state. 

“Some of the victims are Mrs Precious Agbajor, that is my wife, one Abraham, Nancy, Beatrice including the driver. They are six in number that are in kidnapper’s den. The matter have been reported to Oronigbe police station.

“The kidnappers have contacted us, and asked me to pay N5 million for my wife. In fact, I’m confused as I speak to you now.”

When contacted, the police public relations officer in Delta state, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that the incident happened in Edo state, Nigeria.
