Amina Sani hails from Taraba state, but was born in Jos, the Plateau state capital. She nursed a long-held ambition of becoming an actress as, according to her, she was so passionate about watching films when she was a kid. Amina also told ALIYU ASKIRA in this brief chat, that she loves watching Indian, American films, comedies, Hausa films, documentaries and other religious films. She further talked about marriage and others.
Amina, I am happy to meet you having watched some of your films which were very entertaining and educating. How has it been?
Thank you very much for your compliment; I joined Kannywood through director and producer Amir Maross who owns Amir Enterprises about three years ago. But it is now that my star has begun to shine because I am into several films and musical videos and many other engagements are coming my way. So, the sky is the beginning of my journey to stardom.
When I saw you coming into this office I was contemplating many things in my mind until you introduced yourself as the guest actress.
Again, I am very appreciative of your comments, if you want to tell me that I am very beautiful or that I did not make a mistake in taking to acting as my career, many people have told me that already.
You and your parents stayed in Saudi Arabia for a long time; were you able to further your education.
You are correct; we stayed in Saudi Arabia for quite some time. Thereafter, we returned to Nigeria and went back to Taraba state. We were actually in Jos. In 2017, I decided to join Kannywood through Amir, the owner of Amir Enterprises, and one other friend of his. So, whatever I am today I give gratitude to Amir and his friend, including several other members of the industry because they made things easier for me. Initially, I thought the senior members of the industry – men and women – would discriminate among us, but they were all friendly and very cooperative. So, my ambition now is to be a successful star which by the grace of God I am about achieving.
Have you been married before, and how about the so-called sexual harassment in Kannywood especially you that are loaded back and front?
Na you sabi, as far as I am concerned everybody thinks actors and actresses are wayward, are not real. But I’ve not encountered any, and on whether or not I am loaded I really don’t understand what you mean here, but if you are referring to how God created me I will again thank my creator for that. This is because God created the handsome, created the tall and short and also created different languages and religions; so I think that’s how far I can go.
