Smile project closes up dissemination meeting in Kuje

Strengthening Mechanism for Improving Livelihood and Household Empowerment (SMILE) in collaboration with the Women Friendly Initiative (WFI) has closed up its project and dissemination meeting attended by donor agencies and stakeholders in Kuje.
Speaking in Kuje during the occasion, the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abudullahi Danladi Galadima, represented by the vice chairman, Hon.
Ismaila Duda, said caregivers and vulnerable children in Kuje communities have benefited tremendously from the SMILE project during the period of their stay from 2013 – 2018.
He said it was saddening that the SMILE project has finished its assignment in Nigeria but that the area council on its part through the education and social development department will continue to provide the necessary support to reduce the plights of vulnerable children in the society.
The chairman added that the council is looking forward to collaborating with other donor agencies and stakeholders for the protection of violent against children because government alone could not do it.
Also speaking, the OVC desk officer, measurement and education, in the council, Mr. Emmanuel Musa Magaji said SMILE trained caregivers in homes on children management and parental skill, record keeping, child protection policy, shelter, nutrition, food security, health and education in the council.
On his part, the Executive Director, Women Friendly Initiative (WFI), Dr.
Francis Eremutha, represented by the Programme Manager – WFI, Dr.
Veronica Chizoba Gabriel said WFI entered into contractual agreement with the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in 2016 to implement the SMILE project in eight (8) communities in Kuje council.
The communities include; Kuje central, Pasali, Chibiri, Kiyi, Chukuku, Dafara, Gaube and Pegi.
He said, the agreement was renewed in 2017 to further include 5 additional communities of Jeida, Guda-Aba, Kuchiako, Bamishi and Godoji.
