Smooth APC ward congresses in Kwara

Ward congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted in 193 of Kwara state weekend went smooth and peaceful with new executives emerging through a consensus arrangement.

The ward congresses which witnessed a large turnout of members produced a total of 5,447 new officials to direct the affairs of the party for next four years. Twenty-six executives emerged from each of the 193 wards to make up the numbers.

Our correspondent who monitored the exercise observed that it was a mere formality as the party’s stakeholders had overnight agreed on using consensus arrangement in electing their officials.

The APC leader in the state, Dr Bukola Saraki, who joined his ward members in Ajikobi ward 1 where the exercise took place by about 10.30 am hailed the peaceful conduct of the party members.

He expressed satisfaction that the exercise had further reinforced the unity of the APC’s family.
Also, another chieftain of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, declared as mission impossible, plans by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to recapture the state in the forthcoming general elections.
At Oro ward 1 and Igbaja ward in Kwara south all the ward executives were picked by consensus and presented to the congress for ratification.
