Soccer tournament: Traditional rulers, others laud NAN reporter


Some traditional rulers and stakeholders in Nasarawa state  have commended Mr, Awayi Kujesenior correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), for organising a soccer tournament for youths in the state.


They gave this commendation in Wakama, Saturday, at the commencement of the soccer competition organised for youths in the eight clans of Wakama ward, Nasarawa state.


Aren Akun, Usman Galadiama Umbugadu, has commended Kuje for contributing to peace and unity among the people at the grassroots.


The traditional ruler noted that football competition apart from promoting unity and peace, also help in enhancing the health status of the people.


He said that sports had rules and regulations, hence the need for all teams to take the results of every match in good faith.
On his part, Chief Adams Nangba, district head of Wakama, said the competition would engage youths positively.


He described sports as a venture capable of steering youths toward positive cause by providing them means of livelihood among other advantages.


He, therefore, called on the officials to be fair to all teams in order to ensure the realisation of aims and objectives  of the competition.


The Proprietor of Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga, Nasarawa State Mr David Abuluya, who was represented by Usman Ogah, said that sports promote unity and peaceful co-existence among the youths and urged all to support the tournament.


The Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Nasarawa State Command,Mr, Bala Joshua, pledged to support the programme in order to promote unity and peace in the area and the state at large.
