The famous Hassan Gwarzo boarding College in Kano is now enmeshed in sodomy scandal involving some male students who were allegedly being raped and defiled.
The emerging rape cases involving the school children came on the heels of a major incident reported by one of the victims who was reportedly injured in his anus.
Blueprint gathered that it was the teenage student who blew the whistle when he could withstand the pain, prompting his mother to swing into action.
Investigations also revealed that medical authorities at the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase General Hospital in Kano could not attend to the defiled student considering the gravity of the injury, saying that nothing could be done to treat the child without the police being informed about the incident.
The child at the centre of the cruelty had even confided to reporters on his hospital bed that one of his fellow students had since informed him that such a practice was normal at the college.
According to him, it had once happened to some of his colleagues at the junior level.
But the victim’s mother told newsmen in Kano that she would pursue her case till when justice was done.
The authorities of the Hassan Gwarzo College could not make further clarification to the press as the principal refused to open up until the time when investigations by the police were completed.
People in the area adjacent to the college told our reporter on condition of anonymity that such cases almost occur on certain occasion but the school authorities had appeared to have turned deaf ears.
It was, however, their contention that the proprietor of the College should called to order by the Ministry of Education in addition to withdrawing the operational licence of the College to serve as a deterrent to others.
Kano state Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Musa Majiya, confirmed the incident, saying that the police were on top of the situation.
