Sokoto awards N6.6bn teaching hospital project

Sokoto state government has awarded a contract for the construction of the State University Teaching Hospital at the cost of N6.6 billion.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Ali Inname, disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the state executive council meeting held at the council chamber in Sokoto.

The commissioner said the decision was in line with current administration’s resolve to provide and equip all hospitals in the state with the required manpower

He said the project would be completed within 30 months, adding that the contractors were expected to mobilise to site to ensure the work is done according to specifications and in good time.

The commissioner also said the council approved the construction of two premier hospitals in Tambuwal and Sabon Birni local government areas of the state.

According to him, the council awarded the Tambuwal premier pospital at the cost of N 1.6 billion, adding that the contract would be completed within 18 months.

Similarly, the Sabon Birni premier hospital would gulp N 1. 7 billion with a completion period of 17 months.
