Two different awards of a plaque and medal was recently presented to Sokoto state acting Director of Sports, Patrick Atusu, by a Kaduna and Abuja based youth organisations. At the presentation ceremony held at the Sokoto State Sports Council headquarters, the two organisations commended Patrick Atusu’s selfless commitment to the development of the youth and sports sector of Sokoto state, and his service to humanity.
The former national handball team coach was presented with the 2017 Northern Ambassador of Peace and Sports by the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, while the National Youth on Peace and Inter Religious Affairs bestowed on him, Icon of Youth and Sports Development in Sokoto state. Responding, Coach Patrick Atusu said, he is highly honoured and appreciative of the recognition accorded him, most especially, coming from outside Sokoto state.
The immediate past Technical Director of the Nigeria Handball Federation, NHF, also remarked that the awards will encourage him not to relent in training, guidance and mentorship of youths in the area of sports development.
