Sokoto Muslims comply with COVID-19 guidelines

Thousands of Sokoto Muslims faithful, in compliance with the directives of the state government, converged at different Jumu’at mosques to observe  this year’s Eid prayers to mark the end of the Ramadan fasting.

Blueprint gathered that the state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal  and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar lll, were among the Muslim faithful that observed prayers at the Sultan Muhammad Bello Mosque.

This is the first time that the Eid prayers would be observed in mosque other than at a special venue reserved for that purpose.

The two Raka’at prayers were led by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Sheihk Malami Bello Akwara.

The prayers were observed in compliance with the protocol of health experts, to curtail the spread of the coronavirus disease, as  social distancing, use of face masks and other measures were observed.

The prayer session was also attended by the deputy governor, Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, Speaker, Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Anas, Secretary to the State Government, Alahji Sa’idu Umar  and other  top government officials.

Shortly after the Eid prayer, a special session was led by the Imam, for the unity and peaceful coexistence in the country as well as Allah’s divine protection against the disease and other social vices.

Also, the governor had in his Sallah message to the people of Sokoto state, applauded the federal government proactive measures taken against the spread of COVID -19 pandemic.
