Sokoto United: ‘Aboki Coach’ unveiled as technical adviser, targets NPFL ticket 

A former coach of Warri Wolves, Mansur Abdullahi, has been unveiled as the Technical Adviser of Sokoto United, a club currently playing in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

Coach Abdullahi who was unveiled on Friday by the Sokoto Commissioner of Youth and Sports development, Jamil Umar Gosta, was handed the task of leading the club to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Speaking to Blueprint Sports from Sokoto via telephone interview, Coach Abdullahi, fondly known as Aboki Coach assured of his readiness to deploy his wealth of experience in handling the club.

Coach Abdullahi who had served as assistant Plateau and Super Falcons coach said, “I have started working. There will be full screening by next week. I will advocate for the team to take part in a pre-season tournament in Abuja to enable me assess the players both existing and incoming ones.

“I have been given free hand to pick my players from anywhere and move on, so far I get the required result at the end of the day…

“Sokoto United are one of the oldest clubs in Nigeria. Incidentally, they haven’t tested Premier League…”

On welfare and administrative aspect of the game, Aboki coach said, “My assistants and players have to be taken care of. Yes, I’m the Technical Adviser, but I won’t do the work alone. Everyone has to contribute his or her own quota.”
