Some media outlets not fair to FCT minister

Since his appointment as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, by President.

Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Mohammed Bello has been trying his best to improve and reposition Abuja as the nation’s befitting capital city.

He has as far as this writer is concerned proved to be a selfless and hardworking leader in the past seven and half years or so. I will rate him as one of the outstanding ministers to have been opportuned to
govern Abuja as its minister. He has shown understanding and concern for all classes of people including the less privileged in the society.

But it appears that despite his efforts some disgruntled people in
our society have been making use of a section of the media, especially
the print media, to attack the minister including the FCTA administration
that he is heading through false and malicious publications.

The numerous projects and policies the Mohammed Bello administration has executed and implemented are
all aimed at lifting the status of the ordinary man and alleviating the
sufferings of FCT residents. These include the provision of critical infrastructure aimed at fast tracking the development of Abuja, the provision of water, health facilities, and improvement in the FCT’s
education sector due to the influx of people into Abuja. All these
have helped to improve the economy of the FCT.

It is also on record that the minister has
vigorously pursued many uncompleted people-oriented projects initiated by the previous administrations for the welfare of residents.

Moreover, the Bello administration has also tried its best in the
implementation of the Abuja master plan aimed at making the city one of
the best in the world. He has also ensured that the Abuja master plan is not abused or bastardised by some developers as
experienced in the previous years.

As far as am concerned, the efforts of the Bello administration in provision of infrastructure and improving the standard of living of FCT residents are worthy of commendation. I will only advise that satellite areas should be given more attention as the minister approaches the end of his tenure which has been a commendable one. Some sections of the media should try and appreciate the efforts of the Bello administrationdministration.

Ibrahim Biu,
Abuja.
